How to Treat Your Girlfriend Right & Make Her Feel Like a Queen

Girls can be complicated sometimes, so you may be wondering how to treat your girlfriend right? Here are some insights so you can wow her every day.

How to Treat Your Girlfriend Right & Make Her Feel Like a Queen

They say that women are a mystery. Maybe you agree, and maybe you don’t. But think about it – women are human beings just like everyone else. So, they are not as complicated as you might think. In order to have a good relationship, you both have to treat each other right. But do you really know how to treat your girlfriend right?

You know what I’m talking about. Like the kind of man who all other women want to be with because he treats his lady like a queen. Do you do that? If not, read on.

What does it mean to treat your girlfriend right?

Let’s face it – we never formally learned how to be in a good romantic relationship. In other words, there was no class that anyone could take in school to teach you how to be a good partner or learn how to treat your girlfriend right.

Instead, our society just expects us to “know” how to be in a relationship. But sadly, having a good romantic relationship is pretty rare, and that’s because people don’t know how to do it right. [Read: How to treat a woman right – 21 ways to make her want to stay in love with you]

Unless you had the perfect parents who modeled the perfect marriage for you, how else do you learn how to be a good partner? How do you know how to treat your girlfriend right? If you didn’t see your parents do that, then you may struggle to know what it even means to treat her right.

The tricky part is the word “right.”

The word means different things to different people. For some, “being treated right” might only include not being abused *either mentally, emotionally and/or physically*. But for others, that is just a given *no abuse*. So, to them, being treated “right” might mean being pampered, wined and dined, and doted on 24/7.

For most people, the definition lies somewhere in between. But regardless of someone’s individual definition, all people should be treated with respect, honesty, integrity, love, honor, and empathy. As the Golden Rule suggests, “Do Unto Others As You Would Like to Have Done to You.”

So, at the end of the day, treating your girlfriend “right” just means treating her kindly, lovingly, and nicely. It doesn’t sound too difficult, right?

Well, in theory, it’s not. But if you grew up in a family where this kind of behavior was not modeled for you, then it could be more difficult. [Read: How to keep a girl interested – 22 ways to make her want you more]

Why is it important to treat your girlfriend right?

This may be an obvious question, but let me ask you this. Do you like being treated poorly by other people? Do you like it when they call you names, accuse you of things, or are critical of you? Of course not!

No one likes to be treated that way. So, if you prefer not to be treated badly, what makes you think your girlfriend wants to be treated that way?

The thing is, you need to be conscious of your behavior. You need to think ahead of time.

For example, before you say or do something to your girlfriend, think to yourself, “Would I like it if she said or did this to ME?” If the answer is “no,” then you need to stop yourself. Don’t do anything that you would get angry at her for if she did it to you.

That’s why treating your girlfriend right is so important. We should actually treat EVERYONE right, not just her. So, if you’re the kind of person who may not treat everyone with kindness and respect, then you may have a bit more of a learning curve than some other people.

But don’t worry – understanding how to treat your girlfriend right is something that can be learned. However, you have to want to put in the effort to do so, or else why try? [Read: 15 courteous ways to be a gentleman and keep your girlfriend happy]

How to treat your girlfriend right – What you need to know

Have no fear! I have spent many years researching and studying what makes relationships healthy. And trust me, it’s not rocket science.

Some of these tips may be easier for you than others, but if you just put a little effort into learning how to treat your girlfriend right, your lady will be bragging about you to all of her friends.

And then they’ll be jealous that you don’t belong to them! Here are some tips for how to treat your girlfriend. [Read: How to be a happy couple that’s envied by all other couples]

1. Have empathy

For some reason, people find it difficult to show empathy. I find this quite odd, actually. But it’s true.

Empathy is the ability to put yourself in the other person’s shoes and really, truly care about how they feel about something. It’s seeing the world from their perspective.

I know that’s difficult to do sometimes, but if you want to know how to treat your girlfriend right, you at least need to show your girlfriend that you are trying.

No one likes it when another person doesn’t care about how they feel or doesn’t try to identify with their experiences of the world. So, if you want to know how to treat your girlfriend, it all starts with showing her empathy. [Read: How to show empathy and learn to understand someone else’s feelings]

2. Care about her needs

This goes hand-in-hand with having empathy. If she really, really wants to get a “good morning” and a “good night” text every day, well, just do it.

It might annoy you, and you might even think it’s a bit silly. But you have to remember that is her need. And if you want to know how to treat your girlfriend well, then you have to cater to her needs. [Read: 20 reasons why a good morning text is so important]

Everyone has needs and desires. And sometimes people are naturally compatible with fulfilling each other’s needs, but often, that’s not true.

So first, you need to pay attention and ask her what her needs are. Then, take action! It’s not that hard. And trust me, your efforts will be worth it. [Read: Don’t push away a girlfriend who shows these 20 signs she cares]

3. Do nice things for her

Girls love it when you do things for them. Maybe it’s filling up her car with gas, or changing light bulbs at her place. They may sound simple to you, but to her, it’s everything. You’ll be her hero.

So, if you want to know how to treat your girlfriend right, give her foot rubs, bring her flowers for no reason, clean her house, or do just about anything that you know she would appreciate. It’s always the little things like this… that are really the big things. [Read: The 30 sweetest romantic gestures for everyday life]

4. Listen to her

Yes, I know. Girls can ramble on and talk forever, and you’re not always interested in what they’re saying. I get it.

But have you ever had someone ignore you or not listen to what you are saying? Of course, you have. We all have. And how does it make you feel? Not good. Right? It makes you feel like the person doesn’t care enough to even listen to you.

So, listen to her. I don’t care if the big game is on TV. Either pause it and listen to her for a few minutes, or politely say something like, “Baby, I really want to talk to you about this. But right now, I’m kind of distracted with the game. Do you mind if we talk about it later? That way, I can give you my full attention.” Everyone likes to be listened to. 5. Pay for things

Newsflash: chivalry SHOULDN’T be dead. I know that women are independent and self-sufficient these days, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t want our man to pay for us… at least some of the time. Even if she makes more money than you, it doesn’t matter. You should at least pay for some things.

When you pay for things, it shows that you’re putting in the effort to take care of her and treat her like a lady. Being a chivalrous man is just about respect.

So, if you’re wondering how to treat your girlfriend right, don’t mooch off of her. Be the man sometimes and pay for her. [Read: How to be chivalrous – The code of modern chivalry]

6. Communicate with her

If something is bothering you, then talk to her. Even if it’s something at work that’s bugging you *but it’s affecting your behavior toward her*, let her know. She wants to know what goes on in your mind.

Communication is especially important when it comes to discussing what’s going on in your relationship. Let’s face it – there is virtually no couple on the planet that doesn’t have ANY disagreements.

But learn to work through problems by talking about it. If you don’t, then you might not have a girlfriend for very much longer.

7. Keep in touch with her

Girls hate it when you ignore them. You might not mean to ignore her, but she might interpret it that way. If you don’t keep in touch every day, she might think you’ve lost interest or don’t love her anymore.

I know, it might be a bit silly. But it’s not silly to her. Remember some of my earlier suggestions about respecting her needs? Well, here you go. Girls love to keep in touch with their man on a regular basis. It makes her feel loved and secure in the relationship. [Read: How to make your girlfriend happy and feel like the luckiest girl ever]

8. Give her space… if she wants it

Contrary to some stereotypes, not all girls want to be joined at the hip with you 24/7. She has a life outside of you. She has a job, friends, and family. And many girls just like their alone time too.

So, if you’re the kind of guy who tends to be a bit clingy, smothering, or simply a bit over-eager, well, tone it down a bit.

Learning how to treat your girlfriend right is all about giving her the space to feel independent, even when she’s in a relationship with you. Let her go out for girls’ night out. Let her stay home and read a book in her bathtub with a glass of wine. Give her space if she wants it. [Read: How to give your girlfriend her space without creating any distance]

9. Speak to her – and treat her – with respect

If you are not speaking to your girlfriend with kind words – all the time – then you are not being a good boyfriend. Every human being deserves respect. And respect comes in two forms… words and actions.

You know the Golden Rule, right? Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. Guess what? It’s not that difficult.

Think before you speak. Think before you act. Ask yourself if it’s kind and helpful. If not, then don’t say/do it. [Read: 21 things you do that’ll make your girlfriend adore you a lot more]

10. Compromise and fight fairly

As I said earlier, every relationship comes with disagreements. But you can’t let the disagreements break your relationship. You have to think about conflict as if you are a team.

When you have problems, think in terms of problem-solving together. This is not a football game. There doesn’t have to be a winner and a loser. In fact, when you think of it that way, you both end up as losers. So, you have to do some give and take, and fight fairly. [Read: How to compromise in a relationship and not feel like you lost out]

11. Don’t be selfish or lazy

Your girlfriend is not your mother. She does not want to pick up your dirty socks or underwear off the floor. She doesn’t want to be the only one who cooks and cleans. She wants you to be a partner to her, not a child.

So if you want to know how to treat your girlfriend right, be a man. A real man who takes personal responsibility for everything. Don’t just sit around on the couch all weekend drinking beer, not showering, and messing up the house. If you do, she will get disgusted very quickly.
